Only for the Other
Fingers interlocked,
Shy smiles exchanged,
Her eyes meet his,
then she glances away.
What is this feeling?
She wonders,
A smile upon her lips,
Refuses to move from its place.
Once more,
She glances at him,
Her eyes meet his,
This time they linger.
Ever so slowly,
As if not to scare her,
His face comes,
A breath away from hers.
Their eyes,
Twisting pools of emotion,
Stare into the other's,
Unable to turn away.
Feather light,
Trembling lips meet,
Barely grazing,
His hand traces her face.
After they pull away,
They can not keep,
The beautiful smiles,
Hidden from the other.
There was a boy,
his name was Gene,
Gene had a friend,
His name was Robert.
Robert was a doll,
at least that's what they told Gene.
Suddenly, things started going wrong,
things disappeared,
mutilated,
'Stop it, Gene!" They scolded,
each time he replied,
"It Wasn't me, it was Robert."
What a large imagination he has,
his parents wondered.
They would hear little Gene talk to Robert,
'How cute,' they thought,
at least they did...
Until they heard him talking back.
They figured Gene was just changing his voice,
oh how they were.
Soon came the screaming,
little Gene would cry out.
During the night he would say,
Robert would come for him,

You were so screwed.
This would have never happened if you had taken your past roommate’s offer and split the rent of an entire house with her, but no. You just had to stay on campus, where the rent sucked and they only gave the illusion of free meals.
It was the first week of being on campus again and here you were, locked out of your bedroom by your new roommate who hadn’t quite gotten a hold of your schedule yet. At least you weren’t locked out of the entire dorm. You jiggled the door handle one more time before resigning yourself to your fate: naked and afraid.
Maybe not afraid, but defi

You woke up and the bed was empty. The man who would crawl in next to you long after you’d fallen asleep and leave long before you woke up was gone and the sheets in the small space he had occupied were empty. You turned over in the bed, putting your back to the empty spot and squinting at the clock that burned neon green in your vision still muddied by sleep. Blinking long, tight blinks, you cleared up the grey static that buzzed the corners of your eyes and were able to make out the time. 6:47.
Sighing, you pulled yourself from the incubated warmth of your own body and ran heavy hands through your ha

It wasn’t unusual for you to make eye contact with strangers on the subway ride home from work. Children whose eyes were always wide and didn’t move away when you stared back, students who’d duck their heads and look away, elderly men and women who enjoyed catching your eye and giving you an honest smile. People who had habits of looking around at the world when they had nothing better to do.
You were one of them.
The ride home was never especially exciting, even when there was an inter
